The Story of IGSD
Let’s go back to the summer of 2019.
I was living on Long Island, New York while my fiancé was living in Paris, France. I had recently resigned from my position as a Special Education teacher in Boston with plans to move overseas and begin our life together in Europe.
Well… life had other plans.
Because of government restrictions, travel bans, and the pandemic, my fiancé and I ended up living apart on two separate continents for nearly two years.
To say I was overwhelmed, frustrated, and heartbroken would be an understatement.
Fast forward to August 2020.
In an attempt to calm my anxious mind and pour my energy into something positive, I picked up a new creative hobby: polymer clay.
I instantly fell in love.
Not long after, I reached out to my talented friend Amanda Sem of Sem Design Co. to create a custom logo and help bring my vision to life.
In December of 2020, my husband and I were finally married in Paris. He has always called me his sunshine, and it only felt right to incorporate that sweet sentiment into the name of my brand.
And so, I’ve Got Sunshine Designs was born.
What began as a creative outlet during one of the hardest seasons of my life has since grown into something far beyond what I ever imagined.
Over the years, IGSD has evolved from handmade polymer clay statement pieces into a thoughtfully curated jewelry brand incorporating elevated materials and fine jewelry elements. I’ve had the honor of creating pieces for brides, bridal parties, weddings, special events, and everyday moments that become lasting memories.
Every piece is still designed and handcrafted with intention, love, and attention to detail.
Today, I’m back in my hometown in New York, raising my spirited three-year-old daughter alongside my husband while continuing to grow this small business from home. Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship is messy, beautiful, exhausting, and deeply rewarding all at once. IGSD has grown right alongside me through every season.
From my oversized orange desk (lovingly named Velma) to your jewelry box, thank you for supporting this dream of mine.
I hope these pieces bring a little sunshine into your life, too.
I truly cannot thank you enough for all of the love and support,
El :)
